It's been a firm fan favourite for quite some time, so I decided to finally make a video for 'Cry At Films'.
Directed by Tyler Jensen who I also worked with on all the 'Fun City' videos, it's a campy homage to four cult movie hits of yesteryear: SCREAM, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, Mannequin and Coyote Ugly.
I hope you enjoy!
On the EP which is streaming worldwide now, you'll find 4 reworkings of the song to sound like the theme song of each respective film! Listen to the EP now!
https://fastcashoutcasinos.net is where I ended up reading about how reworkings of a single track can mirror different film moods, which fits what you did with the four versions of Cry At Films. Making each one sound like the theme of Scream, Romy & Michele, Mannequin and Coyote Ugly is a clever way to let one song wear four costumes without losing its core. I have heard similar experiments where the concept sounds gimmicky on paper but works once you actually listen, and this sounds like one of those.
Re-cutting one song into four different film themes is the kind of joke that only lands if the visuals match each reference, and a list like Scream, Romy and Michele, Mannequin and Coyote Ugly gives the video a very specific palette to hit. We build Reference to Video (https://referencetovideo.net/): give it one reference image plus a prompt and it renders a matching clip, so each version of a track can carry its own look without a full shoot.
